Let’s understand this clearly. War does not start from borders, weapons, or politics. War exists on the foundation of dukh pain, and that pain is born from ego. Different religions call it by different names. In the Bhagavad Gita it is called ego. In Buddhism, Gautama Buddha calls it craving or trishna. Other religions use different words. But if you look carefully, all of them are pointing toward the same center ego. In this article, we will call it ego. And this is not just about war. Climate change, global warming, animal violence all of these are also spiritual problems at their root.
Humanity Is in Pain That Is the Starting Point.
Humans are not ordinary creatures. We have consciousness and intelligence. Because of that, we always want something bigger. The strange thing is, we don’t even know what exactly we want, but we keep wanting. Religions already understood this. According to Hindu thought, we are seeking the infinite. According to Buddhism, we are moving toward emptiness. At first, these sound different, but someone who understands spirituality deeply knows they are pointing to the same thing. Hinduism says make yourself complete. Buddhism says make yourself empty. Both are trying to take you beyond ego. But what do we do? We try to reach that unknowingly through physical and mental substitutes. We chase money, power, popularity, sex, food, clothes, relationships, travel, houses, cars. Even on the mental side, we chase imagination, meditation without depth, and what can be called fake spirituality. It is like water trying to meet the ocean, but choosing the wrong path again and again. Now the real question is why do we chase all this? Because we are in pain. The entire humanity is in pain. Buddha clearly says this is the first noble truth dukh. To overcome this pain, we keep chasing things. Hindu traditions say work on ego. These sound different, but they are the same problem seen from different angles.

Ego: The Real Root of War
Ego is not just “I am greater than you.” Ego is also I am not good enough, Greed, Fear, Identity, Insecurity, Anger, Selfishness. All of these are forms of ego. Now look at today’s leaders. These same elements are active in them. They want more power, more money, more respect, more popularity. At the same time, they are afraid of losing what they have. Because of this, they are ready to do anything. They can destroy nature. They can destroy countries. They can finish entire civilizations. Just for their own benefit. This is not accidental. This is ego working at a large scale.
The Real Problem: People Choose Wrong Leaders
My observation is very clear. People give too much respect to leaders who don’t deserve it. Just because someone is a businessman, or threatens another country or community, people start following them. Instead of solving real problems like climate change, animal cruelty, unemployment, and quality of life, these leaders create imaginary enemies. And people support them. Why? Because voters themselves are ego-driven. Corrupted thinking chooses corrupted leadership. That is why today many countries need not just political change, but a deeper revolution. First, we have to make people less ego-driven. Then they will automatically choose better leaders. For a better future of the earth, we need to train voters not just leaders.

Why Politics Cannot Stop War Permanently
Let’s be very direct here. Politics, laws, and agreements can reduce war temporarily. But they cannot stop it permanently. Because this is not a physical problem. It is a mental and spiritual problem. Right now, most people including leaders are living like beggars. They are constantly asking from others: money, power, respect, love, control. And a begging mindset always creates conflict. But when someone understands real spirituality, something changes. They stop asking. They start giving. And when people become givers, the possibility of war becomes zero. A joyful person spreads joy. An ego-driven person spreads chaos. Only spirituality can destroy that ego. And today’s world needs real spirituality more than anything else, because the illness called dukh is everywhere inside everyone. And the result of that illness is war, pollution, overpopulation, destruction, and chaos. Spiritual teachers like Gautama Buddha, Mahavira, Krishna, and Jesus Christ all point toward the same thing remove this inner illness.
War Begins in Ordinary People
War does not begin on the battlefield. It begins inside normal people. First, people choose their leaders. Then those leaders create war situations. And finally, normal people suffer. If you look around, you will see it clearly. People vote based on emotions, fear, religion, identity, and propaganda. Leaders use these emotions to gain power. And then war happens. People suffer price increases.
People see dead bodies. People face pollution and destruction. Even innocent people who did nothing wrong suffer the most. Still, people do not learn. They repeat the same mistake again and again.
Religion Is Misunderstood …That’s Why War Exists
People don’t understand religion properly. I belong to a Buddhist community, and I have seen Buddhists criticize Hinduism. I have seen Hindus criticize Muslims. But the truth is, the people who criticize don’t even understand their own religion. If they truly understood it, they would never hate another religion. Because all religions, in their real form, are pointing toward the same truth. There is no single religion that is completely separate. They are different paths toward the same destination. When a person truly understands their religion, they automatically understand others. They don’t spread hate. They don’t create violence. But what is happening today? Religion says destroy your ego. People carry ego of religion. Religion says help others. People use religion to hate others. Religion says become wise. People make themselves and others foolish. People are living in lies. And the biggest lie is ego. Ego has one dangerous feature it never lets a person realize that it is false. It presents itself as truth.

If humanity truly wants peace, love, and compassion, then it must come under the guidance of real spirituality and real religion. There is no other way. You can change leaders again and again, but nothing will change if the inner condition of people remains the same. You can earn money, build houses, achieve material success and still feel empty and incomplete. Even billionaires experience this daily. Because without real spirituality, there is no completeness. War will not end outside. Until it ends inside.
